COUNTY-WIDE FREE MICROCHIPS

This is an initiative that I championed from start to finish. Salt Lake County was on of the first jurisdiction in the country to offer free microchips to pets countywide. This has reduced the number of days pets stay at the shelter which saves money, increased the number of animals that are returned to their owners which saves lives, and has proved to be a successful program that is cost-effective and efficient.

VIRTUAL RESOURCES

Due to COVID-19, resources and services are now offered on virtual platforms. This enhances services and increases accessibility.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE

My team is focused on preparedness and planning. Because of this, our emergency response efforts allow us to assist, not only our community, but other communities in need. We have helped with emergencies around the country, reuniting people with their lost pets. I have several advanced certificates in emergency response. I have emergency certifications in Documentation During an Emergency from the Emergency Management Institute. I have also completed Emergency Response and Recovery from the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. On the local level, I am EMT trained, CPR, and CERT certified.
